Extreme types of hearing effects are pressure- induced injuries associated with explosions or blunt cranial impacts that cause an eruptive injury to the inner ear (frequently coinciding with fractures to the bony capsule of the ear or middle ear
bones and with rupture of the eardrum or round window). These injuries are not acoustically-induced, thus, this kind of damage will not occur under the proposed research.
