A method of delivering signals (comparable to using copper wire to deliver
a signal). Extremely clear glass fibers are used in place of the copper wire.
The audio signal is converted to light through the use of a diode or laser
which is then sent through the glass fiber. On the other and, the light is
converted back into an audio signal. Fiber optics are able to deliver huge
amounts of information on separate channels through single fibers for
extremely long distances. However, the conversion on either end is not
inexpensive for common use.
