1. "Before Present." the notation commonly used on radiocarbon dates, e.g. 1,000 B.P. = 1,000 years before 1950 A.D., or approximately 1,000 A.D.
     
  2. Before Present. Where present is define as the year 1950 A.D. Therefore, 1949 B.P. would be the year 1 A.D. and 1951 B.P. would be the year 1 B.C.
