An olive-green, blackish-green, or brownish variety of serpentine mineral resulting from the alteration of orthorhombic pyroxene (esp. enstatite), occurring as foliated masses in igneous rocks; characterized by a schiller (metallic or pearly) on the chief cleavage face of the pyroxene.
