A triclinic mineral, (Ca,Na)[(Al,Si)AlSi₂ O₈ ] ; CaAl 70 to 50 mol % and NaSi 30 to 50 mol %; plagioclase series of the feldspar group; a common rock-forming mineral in basalt, gabbro, and anorthosite; also in hornfels and siliceous marble.
