An isometric mineral, UO2 , commonly impure with actinide and
lanthanide rare earths, radium, helium, and zirconium; strongly radioactive;
metamict; generally black; sp gr, 10.9; in pegmatites and veins with lead, tin,
and copper minerals; a source of uranium called pitchblende where massive and
