A pure, dense, homogeneous, dove-colored, fine-textured limestone that breaks
with a smooth and more or less pronounced conchoidal fracture that contains
relatively few fossils, and that typically has a white, chalky appearance on
weathered surfaces. Named after T. Wayland Vaughan (1870-1952), U.S.
