Erikson, Erik H. (1902 - )
German-born lay psychoanalyst and
child psychoanalyst noted for his work in psychosocial development; author of
Childhood and Society (1950) and of major studies of Luther and Ghandi.
He described psychosocial development in a human being in terms of eight stages:

trust vs. mistrust

autonomy vs. doubt

initiative vs. guild

industry vs. inferiority

identity vs. role conformity
-
intimacy vs. isolation

generativity vs. self-absorption
-
integrity vs. despair
