A condition in which the patient hallucinates in a state of clear
consciousness, as in alcohol hallucinosis. DSM-IV classifies what was
"organic" hallucinosis on the basis of whether or not reality testing about the
hallucinatory experiences is intact. In patients whose reality testing is
impaired, hallucinosis is termed substance-induced intoxication (or withdrawal)
with perceptual disturbance.
