- Sexual desire or activity directed toward a member of one's own sex.
- A primary erotic attraction to others of the same sex that is increasingly
viewed as a constitutional, probably largely inherited trait. Overt
homosexual behavior may be inhibited, delayed, or otherwise modified because of
family or peer pressure, social bias, or internal conflict caused by the
internalization of social prejudice.
