- Very rapid and deep breathing associated with high levels of anxiety; causes
the level of carbon dioxide in the blood to be lowered with possible loss of
consciousness.
- Overbreathing sometimes associated with anxiety and marked by reduction of
blood carbon dioxide, producing complaints of light-headedness, faintness,
tingling of the extremities, palpitations, and respiratory distress.
