- The state of being unable to sleep.
- A dyssomnia consisting of difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep, or of
nonrestorative sleep (i.e., sleep is adequate in amount but unrefreshing),
associated with daytime fatigue or impaired daytime functioning. The
insomnia is called primary if it is not related to another mental disorder, if
it is not substance induced, and if it is not due to a general medical
condition.
