Heinz Kohut

(1913-1981) An Austrian-born American psychoanalyst who received his medical degree from the University of Vienna and then trained in neurology and psychiatry at the University of Chicago.  He developed concepts ant theories of self psychology.  See bipolar self; empathic failure; grandiose self; idealized parental imago.
