A sodium-ferric iron silicate, NaFe3+ Si2 O6 , occurring commonly in soda-rich igneous rocks; monoclinic; Mohs hardness, 6 to 6.5; sp gr, 3.40 to 3.55. Syn: acmite; aegirite. See also: pyroxene
