An orthorhombic mineral, Ag2 S ; isometric above 180 degrees C; dimorphous with acanthite; massive or as coating; metallic lead-gray; soft, sectile; sp gr, 7.3; in veins with other silver and sulfide minerals; commonly pseudomorphous after acanthite; an important ore of silver. Syn: silver glance; vitreous silver; argyrite.
