  1. A loading plate attached to the frame of a belt conveyor to prevent spillage at any loading point. Jones, 1
  2. A tray or partition placed in a tower, a heat exchanger, or other processing equipment to direct or to change the direction of flow of fluids.
  3. A metal plate used to direct the flames and gas of a furnace to different areas so that all portions of it will be heated; a deflector.
