Trade name for green, often iridescent, artificial carbon silicide, CSi. Hexagonal-rhombohedral plates. It is produced in an electric furnace and used as an abrasive and as a refractory material. Is useful for sharpening tools. Identical with moissanite. See also: moissanite Webster 2nd; English
