René Descartes (1596-1650)

A Frenchman, was a pioneer in systematic philosophy. He suggested the wisdom of dividing the problem to be solved into as many parts as possible in order to better solve it. He stated "the purpose of analysis is to find out by means of one single truth, or a particular fact, the principles from which it derives."
