Nehemiah Grew (1641-1712)

An English scientist and physician who microscopically studied cells, tissues, and organs of plants. His book, Anatomy of Vegetables (1672), started the work in plant histology. He and Malpighi described the microscopic structure of plants so well that few additional contributions were made for over a century.
