  • (chemistry) The reaction of an acid with a base to form a salt and water. Usually, the reaction of hydrogen ions with hydrogen ions to form water molecules.
  • (electronics) The process by which the regenerative effects in a triode tube or transistor are nullified. Neutralization may also be necessary in a multielement tube operated at very high signal frequencies.
  • (environment) Decreasing the acidity or alkalinity of a substance by adding alkaline or acidic materials, respectively.
